Hmm - half a posting !
I'll have a go at seeing whether the rest of Cagman's comment involved him saying that "even with Macrovision disabled NTSC pictures still result in the picture jumping around on a Sony widescreen..." If this is the problem, you may need to use the 7,2,5,5,5 hack (key it in on your remote) and switch the TV type to PAL - that should do the trick (he said, guessing wildly that that was Cagman's query... |

Weird, my post didn't go on properly.
What I had discovered was: On my Sony widescreen TV, and my mates similar Sony TV's the following happens system settings: dvd - region 1 disc, output NTSC or MULTI, MACROVISION enabled TV - scart connection. result - picture distorts (light/dark bending of image at top) If you switch MACROVISION off or goto PAL output the picture is ok. (except for the annoying jerky picture experienced when converting NTSC frame rate to PAL) So as a tip to Sony tv owners: Connect thru scart, RGB output, MULTI on, MACRO off. for best picture results Cheers Chris |

It's odd that Sony tellies should react like that to the Macrovision signal. It's a good job there is plenty of firmware around where you can still access the loophole menus to disable this feature.
That's rather like some projectors, which go a bit wonky with Macrovision-encoded material. Cheers for the tip, Chris - always useful to know about compatibility issues - this may be worth highlighting in the main bulk of the site. |
